When Jenna of Jenna LeRoy Photography first approached Elevate with the vision for her Northwoods inspired shoot, it was a no-brainer for me to jump on board. Her ideas were already on-point, and as a fellow outdoors enthusiast, I couldn’t wait to help create a shoot that would feel just as cozy and intimate as a weekend spent camping amongst the pines.
Situated in a campground right off Devil’s Lake, we kept our set minimal and intimate to compliment an already picturesque landscape. An earthy harvest table was set between the trees, atop a bohemian-inspired rug. Florals, by Lauren of The Flower Mill, were simultaneously bold and down to earth, centered around beautiful turmeric-tinted blooms, pheasant feathers, and natural cotton. I tied in these vibrant, textured tones with tabletop details of cinnamon sticks and plums. A sheer linen casually draped across the table added a touch of romance and whimsy. Everything was placed with a manner of careful disheveledness, to evoke that feeling of anticipation to get the car unpacked, the campsite ready to go, and the fire roaring, so to enjoy the weekend ahead.
A sunset hike to the top of Devil’s Lake and a campfire complete with s’mores (because what camping trip is complete without some?) wrapped up this stunning summer day. Our real-life couple Stephanie and Ross came to this day with such ease, joy, and passion – Jenna was able to effortlessly capture those sentiments in her work. I love revisiting these photos, as to me they depict some of those best relationship moments – quiet, candid moments of shared fondness and adventure with the one you love.
