Some of the sweetest client relationships are those with a bit of a background. It’s so special to be able to assist an older sister when it’s her time to get married and then a few years go by, and it becomes the younger sibling’s turn. It’s even more of a treat when the younger sibling is a classmate from a hometown of yours. This was the case for Allie and Eric’s Autumn Lakeside Wedding Celebration.
What a joy to be able to plan a reception for two of the most deserving people in our (Kirstie & Mallory’s) very own hometown! After all the mess of the pandemic, two rescheduled event dates, and an intimate wedding on the farm during all of it, Allie and Eric finally got together with their guests for a celebration of their marriage at the Indian Crossing Casino (“ICC”) in central Wisconsin.
The ICC goes a ways back for us (Kirstie & Mallory). Our Dad used to work at the adjacent Ding’s Dock in his 20s selling boat rentals and filling up gas for all the boater passersby. Waupaca is home of the Chain O’ Lakes – a series of 22 connected spring-fed lakes. Both the bride, Allie, and us grew up here so given the lovely lake and channel views and the ability to hold larger bands and events, the ICC was a great fit!
With full trust from the couple, we took the foundation of the ballroom space at ICC and transformed it into a cozy, intimate dinner setting, complete with an envelope of drapes, cafe lights overhead and candlelit banquet and round tables with neutral linens and wood-tones to complement the gorgeous color palette of flowers from A Day in Provence. It was a big transformation and many of the local area guests were floored that something like this was possible! That was a pretty fun moment and reflection for us!
After cocktails and appetizers, dinner and toasts, we scooted a few tables out of the way to make more room in front of the stage for the “big act”: the Vic Ferrari Band. Dancing ensued for the remainder of the evening and in that time, we found ourselves looking out at the fun that was being had and reflecting on the years of planning it took to get to this day.
Allie and Eric, we’re so proud of your resilience throughout the process. We recognize that it was challenging and difficult to go through several postponements but it all paid off in the end! Cheers to many happy years together!
