Toni & Steven came to our team as Wisconsin natives who had left the Midwest to start their lives in New York City. These two met at a little bar and spent their first date at a rooftop movie. When we started talking to them it became clear that their wedding day was going to be nothing but FUN! We had so many laughs and joyous discussions throughout the planning process and were thrilled to be working with a couple where the bride’s favorite color was “polkadots” and the groom wanted a suit that was fit for the runway.
T&S selected the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCA) for their venue. Which could not have been a better fit for Toni & Steven’s Colorful and Modern City Wedding vision. The space has towering glass walls and a see-through, architectural staircase, that made for an epic first look. MMoCA also currently has a colorful ribbon installation on the glass walls that perfectly complimented their colorful vibe and whimsical taste. How fitting it was for the two of them to get married in a place filled with artwork, creativity and culture—all things that they value highly as a couple.
When the wedding day arrived, we could not be more excited to help execute their unique vision. The weather was beautiful and allowed for a highly personal ceremony in the lower atrium space surrounded by bright, modern florals. There was not a dry eye in the place when it was all said and done, including us! The ceremony was followed by a fabulous cocktail hour and reception in the rooftop, sculpture garden. Guests were asked to sign a beautiful record as the guest book, grabbed their escort cards along with colorful fans to beat the heat and headed to their guest tables which were adorned with stunning, blue velvet tablecloths, colorful floral accents and art deco décor pops. Café lighting streamed through the space and the view of the capitol, historic Orpheum sign and stunning sculpture artwork, made for a breathtaking city experience. A gourmet plated dinner was served, accompanied by delicious bubbly and specially selected wines to compliment the seasonal dishes they had selected. When it came time for cake, these two surely didn’t hold back—ordering amazing Milk Bar cakes shipped from New York City for guests to enjoy.
Post-dessert, the party really got started on the dance floor with a rowdy group of theatre people, music lovers and friends who are professional dancers. Just as the crowd was scream-singing Hamilton, mother nature decided that she would pop a small storm and downpour into the mix. T&S took this in stride as we very quickly moved the full party back to the ceremony space where the dancing began again immediately. Our amazing DJ team flipped the DJ equipment so quickly that guests never knew the music stopped, they also repurposed the lighting into the glass atrium, creating a super fun club feel which was exactly what T&S had requested. They had such a fun group of friends and family on the dance floor all night!
Toni & Steven’s Colorful and Modern City Wedding Day could never have been possible without the help of the AMAZING vendor team that T&S assembled. Daffodil Parker created some of the most beautiful and unique florals we have ever seen including the wearables and a FULL CAKE NEST! Chance Productions provided stunning rentals and the rooftop café lighting that perfectly highlighted the modern, yet whimsical feel of their day with natural bentwood chairs and a stunning acrylic sweetheart table. Anda Marie Photography shot the whole day with the request for everything to feel very candid and did an incredible job of capturing the joy that Toni, Steven and their people exude. What’s more fun than family photos with some beers at the bar across the street?! David Charles Productions took the request for a giant party and made it even bigger finding just the right tunes to keep guests on the dance floor all night long. Finally, Fresco & MMoCA provided the perfect backdrop for the entire production and amazing staff that helped the event run perfectly.
Toni & Steven are the kind of people who remind us why we push through the long days, pour over the little details and put our hearts into executing our client’s special celebrations. T&S, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to be part of your day. You made us feel like family and it was pure joy to be part of your community. We wish you all the love, laughter and incredible wine, for always!
