Metallics
This was #1 on our Trendspotting 2015 post, and we can definitely say for certain: metallics are STILL going to top the charts for 2016 wedding trends, and probably for many seasons to come! Let’s be honest, you can ALWAYS add a little bling in your everyday life, so why not deck out your wedding in the same way?! Whether it’s gold, silver, rose gold, copper, or mercury glass, adding a few touches of metallics is actually a great way to add a neutral tone that still makes a statement. We are obviously big fans, so we dreamed up a few ways bling-loving brides can incorporate metallics into their wedding day:
Invitations and Paper Goods
Start your wedding theme off right by giving your guests a sneak peek of what they can expect on the big day! Foil invitations are super hot right now, and we expect to see quite a few metallics incorporated into escort cards, menus and table numbers as well.
Decor
This goes without saying, but adding gorgeous, sparkly vases, table decor and other metallic elements to your design is always a sure-fire way to dress up your event. We LOVE the juxtaposition of soft, classic flowers paired with vintage metals or a stunning, gardeny arrangement in a clean and modern copper vase or compote. Whether it’s dinnerware, vases, linens, or placecards, a pop of sparkle in your decor is ALWAYS a good idea. 🙂
Attire
Whether it’s on your dress, your feet, your ears, or in your hair, adding some glitz to your attire on your wedding day is SO on trend right now. We love seeing a bride go uber-glam with her wedding gown or her accessories, but thanks to some pretty awesome designers out there these days, the bridesmaids can join in on the fun, too! We loved the look of the Sorella Vita bridesmaids dresses in our “Metallic Sunset” styled shoot from last year, and expect we will be seeing quite a bit of bling this year as well!
Personalized Touches
No matter what the theme is of your wedding day, we can always get behind adding some personalization and odes to the couple and their story. THAT, above everything else, is what makes your day unique and your very own!
Ode to Home and Other Memories
Just like any other Wisconsinite, we at Elevate are proud of our roots and new home in Madison, and aren’t afraid to show it! We LOVE it when a couple incorporates an homage to their alma maters, backgrounds, and/or hometowns into their weddings. Since we mostly work with brides from Wisconsin we had to include some of our personal favorite Wisconsin inspiration below. Brandy old fashioneds, anyone!? It’s 5 o’clock somewhere, right?
Favors with Meaning
We love seeing couples incorporate a little piece of themselves into their wedding favors. Our advice: consider a fun hobby you and your hunny have in common (such as cooking, gardening, or drinking mochas), and make it mini! Or, did either of you grow up on a maple syrup or honey farm? Fill a few small jars or vials with your favorite sweet, add a personalized label, and you’re good to go!
DECADENT DESSERTS
In the past few years, we’ve seen some brides and grooms opt out of the traditional wedding cake and get really creative with their desserts – and we can’t wait to see what other yummy additions are in store for 2016 weddings!
Alternative Cakes
Feast your eyes on those beauties below. The lovely layered Macaron cake is perfect for a French-inspired or more elegant affair; the classic Naked Cake provides a more rustic display and is a GREAT way to show off more gorgeous blooms or additions; and last, but certainly not least is the Donut cake! One of our brides will be featuring one of these towers of treats at her wedding and we cannot WAIT to see this magnificent piece of art in person! Of course, when talking about art, what we really mean is…DONUTS.
Layers of Loveliness
Another trend we are seeing more and more of are smaller, layered bites of perfection, such as mini trifles or napoleons. If you can’t decide on just one flavor to treat your guests with, why not give them a few layers of fruit, custard or crumble to really tickle their tastebuds?!
Unique Floral Elements
Now THIS is a trend we CANNOT wait to see this summer! Last year, neutral tones were all the rage, but we’re starting to see a movement toward brighter, bolder florals and unique elements such as floral walls, stunning arches, unexpected bouquets. At a loss for the direction you want to go with floral on your wedding day? Tell your florist and let them do the dreaming and scheming FOR you! It’s truly amazing what some of our local floral goddesses can come up with given only a bridesmaid dress swatch and a few inspirational photos!
Funky Furniture
Fun furniture vignettes are something we can always get behind. Give us a lovely vintage setee behind the head table, a creatively set bar or a cozy mantle covered in floral and pillar candles, and we are happy little planner clams. 🙂 Local companies like our very own A La Crate and Event Essentials have SO many creative options in their warehouses to achieve really creative effects – check them out and tell them we sent you!
