Cecilia & Scott’s Parisian Inspired Wedding

This French and slightly vintage-inspired day FULL of playful pops of color was an incredible way to kick-off our official summer season! Scott and Cecilia make such a great team, and their love story is one of a kind. Having met in high school in Madison and going to a dance with their own respective dates together as a group, only to re-connect in Chicago 15 years later, their relationship blossomed over several cities and states – Chicago to California, and back to Madison. It all came full circle after purchasing their new home 3 blocks from the school where they first met.

Not only was the wedding day itself so beautiful and heartfelt (truly, there were tears from everyone throughout their toasts), but we also got the chance to rehearse the ceremony at Cecilia and Scott’s house. We enjoyed sparkling water, meeting their precious cat, Gus, and practicing the ceremony in a casual setting in their own driveway – a simple, yet very fond memory. Even though it was a last minute decision by the couple to throw together some photo albums, it was one of the best ones – we sprinkled them about the space on the wedding evening, and guests enjoyed going through them and reminiscing on memories together. We loved this addition to the party!

As a lover of flowers, Cecilia was so excited for that element in the planning process. With a partner like Briar Loft, you know you’re in great hands. Cecilia’s design goals were for a classic, elegant, textural and touch of Parisian charm approach. Between the neutral bases in the tablecloths and napkins, and simple table numbers and menus, the intentional pops of color in the flowers really became the focal point of the design – just as Cecilia had hoped for. Garver Feed Mill has so much character on its own that we chose specific and subtle ways to amplify the space. We worked with much of their existing furniture and rented quality and textural fabrics to enhance the dinner tables.

We especially loved the intentional touch of the aisle runner to really cement the space, the CB2 coupe glasses at the head table, and the lush arbor. After all, it was Cecilia’s goal to be “standing in flowers.”

Cecilia spent a good deal of time living and studying in France, and during her time there, became greatly inspired by the works of the artist Alphonse Mucha. Using his paintings as our key inspiration (see the title page of our Vision Board below!), we worked as much of that inspiration into the design as possible, while also staying true to the more modern-industrial architecture of Garver Feed Mill. How did we all do?!

CONGRATULATIONS, Cecilia and Scott, and thank you for the opportunity to be a part of your beautiful, heartfelt day. Sending you all our love (and a little Parisian flair) for a wonderful future together!!
