Kellian’s instructions were crystal clear: “I know what I DON’T like, and I’m open to quite a few ideas…but one thing I know for certain is that I want lots of COLOR!”
In a wedding world full of earth tones and neutrals, getting this request meant we had a serious chance to play, and that always makes our design brains do a little happy dance. 🙂 Kellian and Peter are already such pure, vibrant souls, it made complete sense to represent that in their wedding day – infusing color, bold choices, and lots of jubilance into not only the celebrations themselves, but the decor surrounding these two and their warm and colorful families and friends.
Beginning with a palette of magenta and turquoise (YES – we went there!), we worked with Kellian to make sure we infused color throughout the day wherever we could, but also avoided a sense of overwhelm by allowing the day to become TOO saturated. We knew Kellian would be wearing a gorgeous sage and blush applique gown by BHLDN, so we made sure the ceremony and head table decor didn’t compete by layering various shades of pink and oatmeal rather than going bold in those key areas. Where guests were involved, though, color was a welcome addition – we paired magenta napkins with turquoise goblets, watercolor signage with wildflowers, and bright, boho rugs with a stunning floating acrylic feature by Flora by Jamae. Even Kellian’s fun-loving brother wore a bold printed jacket as he presided over their heartwarming (and hilarious) vows!
Looking back on Kellian and Peter’s day is the perfect reminder that you’re allowed to have FUN with your day while also making a serious statement about who the two of you are as a couple. As the owner of Madison’s hip and energetic The Barre Code, Kellian’s bold, vibrant personality definitely showed through in so many aspects of her and Peter’s day – and based on the smiles permanently planted on the faces of these two and their guests, we think FUN was definitely had by all!
So pour a tasty Paloma, enjoy the bright colors as a reminder that yes, Spring IS here, Wisconsin (we swear it will feel like it some day!), and reminisce with us on Kellian and Peter’s vibrant, unique, and 100% FUN wedding day!
