Real Wedding: Bree & John’s Stormy Summer Wedding

Last June, I had the absolute pleasure of helping Bree and John on their wedding day in my hometown of Waupaca.  I grew up with Bree’s family and was blessed to have her as a leader on the dance team when I was a freshman in high school. To this day, Bree’s energy and commitment to loving those around her is so powerful and I’ve always admired her for that.  Being able to witness her commitment to John and her loved ones on their wedding day was such a treat.  I know we’ve said it before, but I’ll keep on saying it: seeing two people madly in love (especially on their wedding day) makes my job SO incredible and I truly cherish the ability to help our couples on one of the more important days of their lives.  It’s THE best. 🙂

Bree and John’s wedding plans were going very smoothly until we received some scary news: just DAYS before the big day, we were told that the reception tent blew over in a crazy thunderstorm and that they’d be installing a new, temporary tent for their special day *gulp*.  This threw everyone for a bit of a loop but as many of us here in Wisconsin know, Mother Nature likes to test us sometimes. 😉 In fact, she came back with vengeance on the wedding day too, when some dark clouds made their way to us during the reception.  If you take a look at the photos and film below, you’ll see how incredible the dark clouds made as a backdrop for some of their portraits.

Enjoy a few of my favorite captures of Bree and John’s wedding day by Russell Heeter.  I’m even sneaking in a link to their short film by Mollica Films here because it’s THAT good.  These two will also be celebrating their first anniversary in a little over a month! Congratulations, Bree & John, and thanks so much for having me!  XO.
